Do you have any flowers you would like to preserve for years to come? Then these flower drying crystals are a perfect option for you. The crystals are very fine 0.5-1mm granules that do not indent the petals whilst they are drying (as with the larger size crystals you can find available). The silica is self-indicating which means you know when they need recharging before use. The granules are bright orange in colour to start and after a few uses and when they have absorbed the moisture will turn green which lets you know they need recharging before using again. To recharge the crystals you will need to place on an oven tray and place them in the oven at 100-120 Celsius until they return orange. This can take 1-2 hours. You can also recharge in a microwave on low/medium heat until they return orange.
To dry your flowers you will need an air-tight container (any type), place a layer at the bottom, just enough to bed the flowers in. Place the flowers into the crystal and cover them fully in the silica crystals ensuring the silica has fallen in between the petals. Once the flowers are fully covered in crystals, place the top on them and leave for at least 7 days - some flowers will take longer than others eg roses will take longer than daisies as they have more moisture to absorb. Tip: I leave them for at least 14 days to ensure they are fully dry and not to disturb. To check they are dry: feel the middle of the flowers, if they feel like paper then they are fully dry and ready for your creations/keepsakes. You will need to remove the flowers delicately and brush off the crystals from between the petals with a small soft makeup/paintbrush. The flowers will be very fragile once preserved. Tip:

You can store your flowers in the silica crystals with no adverse effects.
Some flowers will change colour once the moisture has been absorbed for example bright red roses go a deep dark red in colour and pinks can go a little more purple in tone, purples can go a little more blue. Its all part of the process and completely normal. This is not always the case but is common.
For examples of how the flowers look once dried using this silica method, please feel free to take a look at my store, all my resin flower keepsakes have been dried using these crystals.
